How to use Ganaka

Everything you need to go from a blank account to a fully settled-up group in Squarely — Ganaka's first app.

Ganaka's home screen

1

One account for everything behind Ganaka. As more apps get added, this is the only sign-in you'll need.

2

Pick an app

You land on Ganaka's home screen — a grid of available apps. Right now that's just Squarely; tap it to go in. Everything below is inside Squarely.

Getting started

1

Create an account

Register with your name, email, and a password. Use the same email your friends know you by — it matters later (see "Joining a group" below).

2

Add contacts

On the Contacts tab, add the people you split things with — name, email, and phone. These don't need to be Squarely users yet.

Groups

1

Create a group

On the Groups tab, tap + and name it — a trip, an apartment, a standing hangout. You're automatically added as a member and marked as an admin.

2

Add members

Open the group and add any of your contacts as members. As the owner, you can also promote any member to group admin — admins can create events in the group, but can't manage membership themselves.

3

Joining a group someone else made

If a friend added you as a contact using your email, and you register with that same email, their group shows up automatically under Groups → Groups I'm In. No invite code needed.

Events

1

Create an event

Inside a group, tap Add event — give it a title, date, and pick which group members are participating.

2

Admins & responsible parties

Each participant can be an admin (can add expenses, manage participants) or a plain member — anyone can still log an expense where they're the payer, regardless of role. You can also mark someone as "responsible" for another participant's share — handy if one person is covering for someone else.

3

Archiving

Done with an event? An admin can archive it. It stays visible inside the group, but drops off the My Events tab so your active list stays current.

Expenses & settling up

1

Log an expense

Inside an event, tap Add expense. Pick who paid, the amount, and who it was spent on — the payer can be included too, if they spent on themselves as well as others.

2

Uneven splits

Each person you check off gets a weight (default 1×). Give someone a higher weight if they had more than everyone else — say, 3 drinks vs. 1 — and the cost splits proportionally instead of evenly.

3

Calculate who owes what

Tap Calculate who owes what on the event screen. Squarely nets every expense together and shows the smallest possible set of payments to settle everyone up — not one transaction per expense, just the minimum needed overall.
